WHAT IS A VENTURER UNIT?
 The Venturer's is a part of the Australian Scouting Movement.  We cater for males and females between the ages of 14 and 18.  The Venturer section Units are made up of members, a unit council and leaders.  The Venturers are a self governing unit that plan and run the unit.  The unit council is made up of 4-6 members and it is their responsiblity to ensure the unit is running efficiently.  The leaders are there purely as an advisor to help the unit council to plan and run the Venturers activities. They shouldn't be organizing activities for the Venturers.
Venturers offers young people an attractive program of activities, self government, leadership experience, helps them to develop initiative and resourcefulness, provides them with the companionship of boys and girls their own age and an all-round training program suitable to their stage of development.  It encourages young people to be self motivating, to determine their own training needs and it encourages them to participate in the Venturer program to an achievement level which will qualify them for the Queen's Scout Award.

 It has been identified that the Unit program for Venturers should be designed to achieve the following objectives;

The Unit program is developed by the unit council generally with consultation of the leaders.  All Unit members have the opportunity to suggest activities in which they would like to participate in.  The unit program can be orientated around any theme or award that the unit would like.  It is up to the unit council to ensure the program is working and that if any planning is required then it is completed prior to the activity date.
