BULA VINAKA KEMUNI NA TURAGA KEI NA MARAMA KEI NA GONE!

 

At present there are weekly classes on a Friday evening in the home of members in Geelong involving mainly families with Fijians and Australian partners.  The teacher is your Club's President Rev. Peceli Ratawa.  Classes involve small plays, stories, conversation and vocabulary.

 

Sample Conversation ~  Taking the taxi

 

Jone : Ki  Valenibula  kemuni

To the hospital driver

Driver : Ki na St Vincent’s Hospital?

To St Vincent hospital?

Jone : E nona na Lotu Katolika?

Is that the Catholic Hospital?

Driver: Lo saka, sa dina

Yes sir, that’s true.

Jone: E vica na kenai vodovodo?

How much is the  fare?

Driver: Ena tukuna ga mita na kenai sau

That depends on the meter.

            E tinikarua na dola na kenai sau.

The fare is twelve dollars.

            Raica mada na mita

Look at the meter.

Jone: Sa dina sara kemuni.

Yes it is true.

         Sa rui sau levu na nomu taxi.

Your taxi costs too much.

Driver: A cava ga ko sega ni vodo tram kina?

Why didn’t  you catch the tram?

Jone: Au nanuma ga na veiwekani

I thought you can help me, relative.

Driver: Io e rawa,  me soli ga mai nai lavo.

Yes I can help, give me the money.
