Description: A slender
medium frog with a pale smooth back that has numerous greenish spots.
The under surface is smooth and white.
Length:
(Adult) Male 35mm, Female 40mm. Maximum tadpole length
65mm.
Habitat: Cool temperate
to tropical grasslands near permanent or temporary water, as in
Bushy Park Wetlands.
Distribution: More
than 1,000,000 square kilometres from south eastern South Australia,
to Victoria, most of Tasmania and New South Wales and up the coast
of Queensland to Cairns
Breeding: From
August to January the female creates a foam nest 5-8cm across holding
up to 1,100 eggs. The tadpoles are dark brown to black with semi-transparent
or light grey fins. In south-eastern Australia, they take three
to five months to complete their development. |

repeated every 5 seconds and sounds like 2 stones being hit together.
Males call from the water's edge.
