Description: Medium
frog with a granular green back, banded with yellow and brown stripes.
The under surface is mostly white.
Length: (Adult)
Male 30mm, Female 40mm. Maximum tadpole length 35mm.
Habitat: Temperate
to tropical grassland, open forest, ponds and wetlands as found
in Bushy Park Wetlands.
Distribution: The Brown Striped Frog is known to inhabit
up to 1 million square kilometres from south eastern South Australia
to Victoria and up the east coast of Australia to Cairns.
Breeding: Eggs are
laid in static water usually in a foam nest concealed in aquatic
vegetation. Tadpoles are grey to light brown on both body and fins.
The length of life as tadpoles is around 11 months. |

Mating Call:
The male mating call is
a sharp "poc" repeated every 2 or 3 seconds.
