Brand Image of Bushy Park Wetlands |
Back in 1993, Melbourne Parks and Waterways decided to raise public awareness of their parks and chose 24 of their 36 parks to receive a brand image, in a unique colour, based on the park name, location, landmark, flora & fauna. By 1995 the program was expanded to include around 40 parks and 3 major waterways - the Yarra, Maribyrnong & Patterson rivers. The brand image logos were progressively used on all signage, park notes, banners and displays. |

Bushy Park Brand Image: The Black Shouldered Kite was chosen for Bushy Park as it was commonly seen hunting in both the main Bushy Park area in the open farmland and the wetland areas. The balance of the picture was to be representative of the landscape. As such a perched dam was chosen to represent the water bodies as there are about 30 of them throughout Bushy Park, mostly remnants of the past orchard industry. The rolling open land was to be representative of the open pasture and the rushes and reeds in the foreground are to represent the ephemeral wetlands. The central line of trees represents the creek corridor, and the foreground tree represents the indigenous remnants. (All Dandenong Valley Parks have Brand Images in Green colours) |
