Looking for a place in a crew?
What does it take?
Crew spots aren't always easy to find. Sometimes it's experience, sometimes it's weight (there's a total crew weight limit, and most try to get as close to it as possible), sometimes it's chemistry.
But mostly it's experience. Unless you know an owner who is keen to teach you, it really is difficult to place anyone who is just starting out in sailing.
Which is not to say it doesn't happen. But it does take persistence.
A sailing school is a good start, then anywhere you can get hours on the water.
