The Essendon Choral Society is celebrating 30 years of presenting choral music in the north-western Melbourne area.
We are also celebrating Greg Hocking's 20th year as conductor of the Choir.
We are very pleased that the Moonee Valley Council is helping us in financially supporting our concerts to celebrate this achievement.

Sept/Nov 2009 - Portarlington and Aberfeldie, a fun afternoon of various composers from Rossini to Verdi. Conducted by Greg Hocking and accompanied by Rowan Vince & Geoffrey Urquhart.
30th Anniversary Concert
August 2009 - Rossini's Stabat Mater and Beethoven's Choral Fantasia. Featuring distinguished soloists - Felicty Baldock, Sue Braatvedt, Matthew Davine and Lucas de Jong, The Melbourne Opera Orchestra and featuring Rowan Vince on keyboard. Conducted by Greg Hocking.
"Mary and I very much enjoyed the concert by your Choral Society this afternoon... We will come again to some future concerts too if at all possible."
Celebrating 30 years
May 2009 - Faure's Requiem, Vaughan Williams Five Mystical Songs and other Favourites. Featuring distinguished Guest Soloists - Felicity Baldock and Ian Cousins, Rowan Vince on piano and organ, and the Melbourne Opera Orchestra. Conducted by Greg Hocking. Concluding with our now famous Devonshire Tea!
Moonee Valley Festival
March 2009 - light music segment on Community Stage in Queens Park, Moonee Ponds.
Carols at St Christopher's
December 2008 - a carols service conducted by Rowan Vince and accompanied by Geoffrey Urquhart.

October 2008 - concert version of Gilbert and Sullivan's Trial by Jury, and other indisgressions featuring Debra O'Connor, Chris Busietta, Adrian Tamburini and Rowan Vince on piano. Conducted by Greg Hocking.

August 2008 - featuring Soloists - Felicity Baldock, Sue Braatvedt, Chris Busietta, Yang Liu and keyboard Players - Rowan Vince, Geoffrey Urquhart and Gavin Fry. Conducted by Greg Hocking.
Haydn's Creation
May 2008 - conducted by Greg Hocking and supported by distinguished Soloists - Felicity Baldock, Edmund Choo and George Kozlowski - and Melbourne Opera Orchestra.
People's Messiah
December 2007 - annual Handel's Messiah. Essendon Choral Society was joined by the Dandenong Choral Society, the Melbourne Opera Orchestra and distinguished soloists (Felicity Baldock, Belinda Paterson, Mathew Davine and Adrian Tamburini) to lead this event. Hundreds of Melbourne residents and visitors joined in the choruses, or just sat back and enjoyed this marvellous work.
Carols at St Christopher's
December 2007 - a Carols service in Airport West, conducted by Rowan Vince and supported by Geoffrey Urquhart at the keyboard.
Pleasant Sunday Afternoon
September 2007 - we travelled to Portarlington and performed a Sunday afternoon concert of mixed light music. We were supported by Canto Allegri, soloists from the choir, and Rowan Vince at the piano.
Elgar Sesquicentennial Concert
August 2007 - various works by Edward Elgar to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth. The major work was The Music Makers, but the concert also included several songs with words written by Elgar's wife and others. Rowan Vince performed a couple of Elgar's piano pieces. The Choral Society were supported by the Melbourne Opera Orchestra and mezzo-soprano, Sue Braatvedt. Conducted by Greg Hocking.
The Gondoliers
March 2007 - concert version of The Gondoliers by Gilbert and Sullivan. Local soloists, Melbourne Opera performers and orchestra, conducted by Greg Hocking.
