Mr. Norman Houghton is a practising historian, writer, bushwalker and photographer who has made a fifteen year study of rural sawmills and their transport methods. He is the author of several books and numerous journal articles.
The lecture will be illustrated and will examine the tramway scene in general, pausing to note in detail particular engineering and propulsion problems encountered by bush tradesmen.
