Dr. Buchanan, who is currently a Visiting Fellow in the Research School
of Social Sciences, A.N.U., Canberra, is one of the world's leading Industrial
Archaeologists. Among other things he is at present a Royal Commissioner on
Historical Monuments (England) , Vice-President of the Newcomen Society for
the Study of the History of Technology, and a Past-President of the Association for
Industrial Archaeology (Britain.). He is widely known for his published
works on industrial history subjects.
