WILSON TRANSFORMER COMPANY

The Wilson Transformer Company (WTC) was founded in 1933 by Jack Wilson. The early premises were in South Melbourne and Port Melbourne. In 1951 the Company moved to its large Glen Waverley site that has progressively been developed over the years. A second Australian plant was opened in Wodonga in 1981.

Today WTC employs over 350 people in Australia, including 30 engineers, and has operations in

WTC is the largest supplier of power transformers to the Australian market and exports power transformers and Dynamic Rating products to South East Asia, the United Kingdom, the Middle East and the USA. The Company is a committed Australian owned private company operating in a global market.

Robert Wilson, the son of the founder, will present a history on the development of the business and during the visit you will see:

The visit will provide a unique opportunity to learn something of the history of the Company and see how a medium sized Australian Company has responded and adapted to the challenging domestic and international markets.

The evening will begin at 5.40pm with a talk by Robert Wilson on the history of the Company, this will be followed by an inspection of the plant between 6.00pm and 7.30pm, after which snacks and drinks will be available courtesy of the Company.
