Institution of Engineers, Australia
Engineering Heritage Branch
| Place: | RAAF Museum, Williams Road (extension of Point Cook Road) Point Cook Melway 198 J4 |
| Time: | 10:30 am. Museum Tour 1:00 pm. Heritage flying display |
This tour of the RAAF Museum at Point Cook has been arranged to allow
members to inspect heritage aircraft, and other technically interesting and historic artefacts of the Royal
Australian Air Force.
The day will start at 10.30 AM with a guided tour of the Museum. Opportunity will be available after the tour,
which lasts one and a half hours, for members to independently browse the displays.
At 1.00 PM, the Museum will put on a flying display using a heritage aircraft. Prior to the display a briefing will be
given on what it takes to fly a heritage aircraft. The briefing and flying display takes about 50 minutes, so the visit
will end around 2.00PM.
Between the tour and flying display there is an opportunity for members to have lunch. There are no refreshment
facilities at the Museum, so lunch and drinks must be BYO. Picnic tables are available, but there are no
undercover eating areas if the weather is inclement.
There is no public transport serving the Museum and travel to the location must be by car or taxi. Effort will be made to arrange lifts for members who don't have a car
available.
Spouses, partners and friends are welcome to join the group.
