Recorder workshops
In 2003, Orpheus Music is proud to present Gatherings are on the Move with a theme of Rhythm and  the Recorder.

The first Grand Musical Gathering was held in Armidale, NSW in 1994 and began a tradition of high quality Recorder workshops. 

Gatherings since then have been intensive workshops of 2-4 days duration with enrolments of 80-150 people. 

These annual events laid the foundation for the major international Festival The Call of the Four Winds held in January 2000, organised by Zana Clarke and Caroline Downer.

VIOLA DA GAMBA -TASTING 

SELECTED YEARS: 1560 - 1740 
From Toskany, Veneto,  Rhein Valley, Wachau, England, Burgundy and others

Place: University of Vienna 
There will be delicious samples of the finest productions of the most honourable masters of Ages past for your delectation and delightation.

The occassion for this happy event is the restoration of three of the viols of the collection - John Rose, Henry Jaye and Edward Lewis! 
There will be consort playing exclusively on the viols of the Orpheon collection (ca. 25 instruments - please, see our web site: www.orpheon.org) during these three days, under the direction of the members of the Orpheon Consort. (But bringing of your own instrument is allowed...) Players of other historical instruments (violins family, flutes, recorders, oboes) may participate in the event (but please ask in advance!). 
For those coming from abroad there will be a limited number of free rooms available with our friends. Otherwise we will reserve a room in reasonably priced pensions nearby. A very reasonable university mensa [sic] is available for meals.

Rosa Mundi Concert

Featuring British soprano Sophia Brumfitt and Rosemary Hodgson playing lute and theorbo.

Rosa Mundi was formed in 2001 by the pair of Royal College of Music post graduates to explore the link between renaissance and baroque music.
