AIMS : Specifically, the Society aims to:
1.promote an interest in early music and musical instruments, and the presentation of musical performances in as authentic a manner as possible
2.provide facilities for, and encouragement of, amateur music-making. Music written before 1700 is a particularly rich source for ensemble players of modest technique. The Society possesses an excellent music library for this purpose.
3.sponsor public recitals by both members and non-members who can establish a high standard of performance.
4.keep members informed of local and interstate early music activities, principally through circulation of a regular newsletter, e-mail bulletins, and this web page.

HARPSICHORD HIRE

The EMSV has a harpsichord available for hire by EMSV members only. Non-members wishing to hire instruments must first have to join – a subscription form is on the website (cost $10) Hirers must collect and return harpsichord in a suitable vehicle with a flat carrying surface of the required length, eg a medium to large station wagon or van. Harpsichord will not be released into a smaller vehicle. Repair for any damage sustained to the harpsichord during the hire period must be paid for by the hirer.

Harpsichord – is a Zuckerman Flemish single manual, 52 notes, 4’, 8’, buff stops, and a range of GG/C (short octave) – c’’’. It has a length of 1.95m (6’6”).

It will be tuned and set to to the required (modern A440) or baroque (A415) pitch before it is hired. Liz Zetzmann needs to be notified at least four days before the hire which pitch is required so the instrument will settle.

Hirers may need to re-tune the harpsichord themselves during the hire period, but are asked not to transpose it from one pitch to another.

Hire rates: Per concert or for 1 day $50 (usually 1 day)      Per week $80

Long term hire rates: $80 for the first week, then subsequent weekly rate $30 (up to a maximum of 6 weeks total, after which the same person may start a new hiring period provided that no other member has requested hire)

Enquiries: Liz Zetzmann (9807 8797) lizzetzmann@hotmail.com
