* is a community group dedicated to exploring model trains as one of the great 'leisure' activities;
* aims to extend all members' skills by encouraging the building, running and exhibition of model trains and accessories;
* actively promotes and supports new members to the hobby;
* promotes interest in all model scales and prototypes.
The original Essendon Model Railway Club was formed in July 1986. People with an interest in model trains in the Essendon and surrounding districts were encouraged to join the Club and 'play trains'.
The Club expand with additional members, and was renamed the Essendon Model Railway Group in 1993. The rename was partly to recognise the various backgrounds and areas that people came from to be a part of this club, and to highlight that all people with an interest model trains are most welcome.
The Club has always
been an established and friendly place to visit. Our clubrooms in Ascot Vale
feature a large train layout, and various other displays. In addition, we
now attend model train displays all across Melbourne from time to time.
