The Womboota Methodist Church was opened in 1954. It replaced an earlier weather board building which was erected as a Bible Christian Church, which had opened in 1886. The land had been purchased at a Land Sale at Moama in 1882.The Rev. Richard Yeo was the first resident minister at Womboota. Womboota became the centre of the Circuit, with services held at Thyra and Mathoura and later at Bunnaloo. In 1902 the Bible Christian combined with the Methodist Church which then in 1977 became part of the Uniting Church. Over the years the church has been a vital part in village life, with "Tea Meetings" held regularly. Many baptisms and wedding have been celebrated in the church. The brick dwelling next to the church, was built in 1919 as the minister's residence. Since 1960, the minister has resided in Mathoura.
