East Geelong Training Rules
When at training all children must listen to the adult in charge of that activity. Some training requires the use of equipment that if not handled correctly could result in injury. Listening and doing as asked will lesson the chance of anybody being injured.
All athletes must treat the person in charge of an event with the same sort of respect as they would give the teachers at school. Adults in charge must also treat the children in their control with the same respect.
Children who are constantly causing disruption will be given the choice of settling down, or leaving training. Children will never be sent home early or alone but will have to sit out until the end of the session.
They will have the rules re-explained to them and their parents will be notified, either in person or by phone. The child will then decide whether they are able to return to training.
Training is for everyone to be able to have a go without being worried about what other people are going to say or do to them. If you have a problem at training or at Landy Field with other children or adults, go to your team manager or even your coach. They are there for you and will do what ever they can to help you.
Remember that Little Athletics is for Fun and Fitness, so go and have some fun and at the same time get a little bit fitter.
PARENTS OFFICIAL DUTY
Once your child is a registered athlete with the East Geelong Club you as a parent are committed to several things.
Firstly you must have fun and join in ALL our extra curricular activities (eg. Family barbeques. Fun training nights and parent relays).
Secondly you must support the club in any way you can (eg. Fund raising, cooking snags, equipment maintenance etc.)
Thirdly officiate at Landy Field on a roaster system. It is an important part of your commitment as it is the parents who actually run the competitions. There are Chiefs at every event who are there to teach you how to officiate at what ever jobs we are allocated. We find that if everyone works together and does duty once every program rotation the effort does not seem so great. It can be quite fun as we try to put you on an event which your child is competing in and you get to meet other people.
Parents are not allowed in centre field when competition is in progress, but officials are.
Team Managers accompany the under 7 children tor events and stay with them until they finish, then return them to the Club area.
Children are not to be left at Landy Field unless accompanied by an adult.
*It is NOT a baby sitting facility*
