News and Prayer Update from Richard Trist |
| |
August 2008 |
| |
Dear friends and supporters of EFAC, |
| |
Thank you all for your prayers, particularly over my 3 week of burst of travel to Jerusalem and the UK. I felt greatly supported and upheld in the midst of a fairly intense time. |
| |
Give thanks for: |
| |
-
The GAFCON Conference - particularly give thanks for the clarity of the final statement which came as a result of much prayer and discussion from the 1200 members at the Conference. God was powerfully at work amongst the delegates with overruling of visa problems, recovery of lost luggage, and a wonderful unity in Christ. Pray that from the Conference will flow a new gospel focus for our Anglican Communion.
| |
-
Give praise for the EFAC International Conference in Bristol. This was a great meeting of like-minded people from around the world. Particularly useful were the links made with key leaders from EFAC USA and EFAC Canada.
| |
-
Give thanks for the continued generosity of so many individuals and churches to the work and ministry of EFAC. Financially we are tracking well this year, although we still have a shortfall of donations towards the GAFCON Appeal. Pray that this shortfall will be made up soon.
| |
-
There has been a great response to the EFAC National Conference, with 110 people enrolled (max number we can accommodate is 150) and enquiries arriving every day. Over half the Dioceses in Australia are represented thus far and there is an excellent spread of clergy and lay, men and women. It is good news that the Archbishop of Melbourne will welcome delegates at the opening Conference Session with Archbishop Peter Jensen.

The amazing way the changes at Ridley have progressed. We have now all relocated to the new Northern site, with faculty and admin staff gradually getting settled into new offices, and new infrastructure - pathways, covered walkways, entrance to the Bookshop, new chapel etc - almost complete. There is a very positive feel in the place.
| |
-
Praise God also for the continued growth in new students at Ridley, particularly in the Distance programme being generously funded by BCA, who also support my ministry with EFAC. Numbers in this programme have doubled from early forecasts, and the number of distance students has now progressed to being on-campus students studying for full-time ministry.
