CRITERIA.
For the placement of young persons at St.Vincent's residential setting.St.Vincent's Residential setting is a Statewide Agency which delivers services of medium, to long term residential care, education and social work, inorder to meet the needs of adolescents, aged between 10 and 16 years of age, who are severely socially and emotionally damaged and whose experience of life has been especially difficult. When the placement committee of St.Vincent's residential setting considers a referred young person for acceptance at the setting, the following should generally be fulfilled.
The age on admission should be from 10 to 14 years.
Priority is to given to very distressed young persons who have exhausted previous placements and service options and who are therefore at fairly high risk in any subsequent case management.
The young person is in need of stable medium to long term rostered care.
The youg person exhibits significant emotional disturbance.
The young person exhibits behavioural and educational difficulties.
The young person is deemed to have the capacity to benefit from the placement.
Where appropriate the family should be involved with the young person
while at St.Vincent's residential setting.
