Essential to an understanding of the ethos of the St.Vincent's Education Centre is the beginning of the work of the Christian Brothers in the heart, mind and faith-inspired action of their Founder-Edmund Rice.
Edmund Rice was moved by the Holy Spirit to open his whole heart to Christ, present and appealing to him in the poor. He identified with the poor in order to invoke in them a deep awareness of God's loving presence.Today it is the followers of Edmund Rice,both Brothers and the lay staff, who reach out with compassion to the materially,emotionally and spiritually poor children,awakening in them a consciousness of their dignity as Children of God.
