The Catholic School does not exacerbate differences, but opens itself to others and respects their way of thinking and living. The school must begin from the principal that its educational program is intentionally directed to the growth of the whole person, and its specific approach takes place in the form of personal contracts and commitments. In doing this, the school must help the pupil spell out the meaning of his experiences and their truths.
Catholic education loses its purpose without constant reference to the Gospels and frequent encounter with Christ. From this background it sees all the humanity as one large family, one in God, who is father of all. Therefore, not only does the school promote respect for just laws and search for the common good, it also needs to be sensitive to and help promote, appeals for peace, justice, freedom and progress for all peoples, and the life of the school must give witness to these goals.
The Catholic School makes its contribution towards the betterment of peoples by offering them the Gospel spirits of freedom/responsibility and love, and by reminding all that education is not basically for the purpose of gaining material prosperity and power, but also is a call to serve and be responsible for others.
The Christian Brothers have dedicated their cause to the principles of care and enlightenment through education and it is to these principles that the St.Vincent's Education Centre is committed.
