What is ECNA?

E-community Networking Association (ECNA) is a registered association in Victoria, concerned with fostering and supporting electronic community networking in Australia and elsewhere. Its members come from the networking community in Australia and other countries.

An inaugural meeting for the Association was held at the Community Networking Conference in July 2002.

Community Networking in the U.K. and the U.S.A: David Wilcox and Terry Grunwald

David Wilcox and Terry Grunwald are visiting Australia for the The Smith Family Community Learning Network project and this is their only public appearance before work in New Zealand. David has been closely involved with the establishment of community networks in the UK, (see www.partnerships.org.uk), and Terry engages in community networking consultancy and development in the US.

They are partners in an international collaborative initiative, Making The Network (www.makingthenetwork.org), a joint UK-US initiative which works with communities, governments, and other organisations to get electronic community networks going. They have produced extremely useful materials about bringing together communities to go online, using innovative and enjoyable planning methodologies. Both of them have important stories to tell about the development of community networking in the US and UK, having worked with all levels of government and diverse communities.

The AGM was held on Monday December 2 at 6pm at VICNET.
