Is your child ready for Preschool?

We ask parents to give careful consideration to the age at which their child enters preschool, as it may not be possible to offer a second year of 3 year old kindergarten.   This is particularly relevant to young 3 year olds born in January, February, March or April of the year they are eligible to attend the 3 year old program.

If you have concerns about whether your child will cope with 3 year old kindergarten, we suggest submitting an enrolment form with the Whitehorse Pre School Association when your child turns 2 years of age.   In addition please make an appointment to discuss your concerns with our teachers.   On commencement of preschool you have two options:

1. To start pre-school when your child turns 3 years of age, or
2. Defer your child until the following year guaranteeing you a place within the
    3 year old program.

Deferment
After careful consideration, should you decide your child is not ready for preschool, we strongly recommend you defer your child until the following year.

Alternatively, should you elect to commence 3 year old kindergarten and later decide to defer your child, you will only have until the end of term 2 to be guaranteed a position the following year.
