Philosophy

We believe that children learn best through a child-centered approach, which emphasises play and discovery through developmentally appropriate activities.  Each child is a unique individual and their needs and interests form the basis of every program provided.  We believe the teacher’s role is to make reflective observations of children, and then plan interesting and challenging activities.  We aim to provide a safe, secure and supportive environment where children feel free to use their senses to explore, discover, experiment and practice skills at their own pace.   This is what we believe leads to children who are happy, have a positive self-concept, and who can accept and appreciate themselves, others and the environment around them.

3YO & 4YO Program Goals

Our primary goal is for each child to have a positive self-concept, be enthusiastic learners, and be considerate and respectful of others and their environment.  We work towards fostering independence and self-confidence and developing life skills and competencies.  We encourage the belief that every child is unique and special regardless of individual differences of race, colour, gender and religion.  We carefully plan activities, choose equipment and interact with children in a way that will accomplish our goals in the following areas:

Social

  • To help children learn to be considerate and respectful of the needs, wishes and opinions of others.
  • To help children feel comfortable and loved in an environment where they are seen as valued members of the group.
  • To support children in learning to negotiate and problem solve in a variety of play situations.

Emotional

  • To help children feel confident and important by encouraging the development of self-esteem, independence and a joy of life.
