Brighton CAAM Team - Air Monitoring
The
local community access to air monitoring has got off to a good start with 8
people having been through the E.P.A.'s training programme and are regularly
monitoring the Brighton station now.
We
have learnt how to monitor and record polluntants such as ozone, oxides of
nitrogen, air borne particles as well as stepping outside the station to
visually estimate wind speed & direction and cloud cover.
Once
we are familiar with the technical side of things we hope to spread the word
about air quality in Melbourne via community and school education programmes.
As you can see, there is scope in the team for the personal gain of new skills
on the monitoring side both technical and knowledge based, plus teaching in
schools or just sharing your care for the environment via community groups.
