Dianne Maroney is more than just another NICU nurse, she is a mother of a child born much too soon.
She is also the co-author of the newly released book "YOUR PREMATURE BABY AND CHILD" (Berkley 1999). The book serves as "a comprehensive handbook for preemie parents that gives critical information needed throughout the first five years of a preemie’s life."For more information about the book visit http://www.premature-infant.com/flyer.html .

While visiting Dianne’s site, you will definitely want to take a look at the *IMAGINES*!!!!A few years ago, while preparing for a speech, Dianne requested some input from parents of children born prematurely. She asked them to help the professionals *imagine* what it is like to have a child enter the world much too soon. The *imagines* are a reoccurring thread on the PREEMIE-L mail list, and it always generates lots of responses and emotion. See some of the responses on "Imagine... A Parent’s View"
BE WARNED!!! Make sure you have lots of tissues on hand!

Dianne has also asked the same of NICU nurses, to *imagine* what they feel, be sure to check out "Imagine... A Nurse’s View"

After the NICU
a list of advice for when you finally bring baby home

Congratulations, you finally get to bring that bundle of joy home. Until now, the NICU has been a very intimidating place, while at the same time it offered great security for your child. Coming home from the NICU offers the full realm of emotions, from euphoria, all the way to shear terror. No doubt that you have gotten all kinds of pointers and advice from the staff, still you may be wondering how you will remember everything, and what if something happens that you haven’t talked about yet.?

Well that’s why this site was created! The advice contained in this site is a collection of experiences taken from parents of preemies who have *been there, done that*!! All of the information was taken from PREEMIE-L. The participants are parents and professionals from all over the world.

Visit "After The NICU" ( http://home.san.rr.com/gtbangs/advice.htm   ) to find advice on choosing a pediatrician, visitors and outings, calming and sleep, feeding and giving medications, touch and massage, supplemental oxygen, various odds and ends, and lots of preemie related links.

This site is my own doing, and because I change internet providers every so often, the address of the site also changes. If the above address does not work, try http://listen.to/preemieadvice  and you will be redirected to what ever address I am currently using.
