Some mothers of preemies received wonderful support and information from LLL. Others felt that some leaders were not very helpful or knowledgeable about preemies. A pamphlet " "Breastfeeding Your Premature Baby." is available from LLL leaders.

The Nursing Mothers' Association of Australia (NMAA) is a large community based self-help group, recognised as a leading authority on breastfeeding management. We provide innovative counseling and support services to the community and health sector throughout Australia. Here you will find a wealth of information for both breastfeeding women and for health professionals and others who are involved in supporting and promoting breastfeeding.

Nursing Mother's Council

Chapters in the United States (California, Colorado, and Indiana).
NMC is a non-affiliated, non-profit organization whose goal is to help mothers enjoy a relaxed and happy feeding relationship with their babies by providing breastfeeding information and support. Most of our help can be provided over the telephone, but we also offer home visits to resolve difficult problems.

NMC services are provided without fee or obligation. NMC believes it is the mother's choice how long she breastfeeds her baby, and we will support her breastfeeding goals. We also believe that working and nursing are compatible. Because we believe that the patient-doctor relationship is very important, each Chapter of NMC works closely with its own Medical Advisory Board.
