IT ALL BEGAN WHEN....
I was going in for a regular OB/GYN visit & I thought that my baby was kicking my bladder because I kept getting a small wet spot in my shorts. When I got to the doc's office I told them what was going on and they took me to L&D. Then they told me it wasn't my bladder but my water was leaking. I was put on immediate hospital bedrest. I had five times of going to L&D with contractions two minutes apart & no dialation when finally the sixth time I started to dialate with no contractions. Meaghan-Anne was transverse so they manually moved her. When I finally stared to have contractions she was back in the transverse position. Then the C-Section. It was bikini then went classical because of hard extraction. For second pregnancy found out we were having twins 12/23/96 at 16-17 weeks. At 22 weeks we found out about the Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome & by 23.5 weeks was medivacced to Hawaii from Okinawa,Japan. Several ultrasounds & amnio reductions later the Perinatologist said it was time to get them out in hopes of any chance of survival. Twin A, Aidan, survived nine days. Twin B, my wonderful Collin, had a very rough course. I am happy to say he's still here!

WHAT PROBLEMS/DIFFICULTIES DID YOUR PREEMIES HAVE WHILE IN THEY'RE INITIAL HOSPITAL STAY?

DID THEY REQUIRE ANY "HELP" WHEN THEY CAME HOME, i.e. O2, MONITOR, FEEDING TUBE, MEDS?

ANY REVISITS TO THE HOSPITAL, WHY?
For Preemie #1 yes at 8 weeks for bronchiolitis & only for 4 days. For Preemie #2 yes for the three Vitrectomies following the end of his transfers from Tripler NICU to UCSF NICU to the NICU at Detroit's Children's Hospital. The Second Vitrecomy was at Children's in Detroit. The third was at W. Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak,MI with a continuing stay in the PICU because he started having seizures following the surgery. Before release from the PICU he had his fourth Vitrectomy.  Continued page 23
