Diamond Valley Oxfam BookFair Saturday 20th October Eltham Senior Citizen's Hall Friday 19th Oct. Set Up
This month we hold our 2007 Book fair ! Beth and the team have been slaving away in dungeon sorting books. As soon as they think they have finished sorting, more books roll in !
There will be no meeting this month. Instead we will be asking for as many people as possible to join in to help move all the books from the Dungeon up to the Senior Citizens Hall, starting from about 4.30pm, and then placing the books out during the evening. Please try and all be there for at least some of that afternoon or evening, as we really do need ALL HANDS ON DECK.
As always, snacks will be on hand, with Pizzas later in the evening .So, hope to see you all on the 19th with any else you can drag along to help. We also need as many volunteers as we can get during Saturday to arrange books and to help pack up after 7:30 pm. Phone Beth if you can help.

Oxfam Delivery of Christmas Trees
Brian Moran is again organizing the Oxfam delivery of Christmas trees. I just send out letters to some of the previous drivers, while he contacts 4-wheel drive clubs. Here is part of the letter which is being sent out this year, in case anyone is willing and able:
Last December, with the tremendous support of volunteers, all records were broken in our annual fund-raising delivery of Christmas trees. On average each of 198 vehicles raised about $500 to make a total profit of nearly $98,000, and increase of 30% compared with the previous year. The trees are collected from the Scout Hall, Pakenham St, Blackburn (Melway Map 47 H12) on Saturday 8th December, or Princes Hill Primary School, Wilson St, North Carlton (Melway 29 J11) on Sunday 9th. On Saturday we deliver to the southern and eastern parts of Melbourne, and on Sunday to the northern and western regions. You choose the area where you would like to deliver trees, as well as the day and time (before 11am) you arrive at the depot. We give you a very well organized list of addresses with Melway grid references, all close to each other, and you drop off the trees that have already been paid for, taking 1-3 hours.
Please let me know if you can help this year. My email is (AHIE.Stewart@bigpond.com) or phone (H 9459 4429 / Mob. 0437 56 3 073) and we would like to know as soon as possible for planning purposes. Even if you are not sure let's know what the possibilities are and when you would like a reminder call or email. Even to be on an emergency list in case someone in your area pulls out is very helpful for us.
The details we need for volunteer drivers are: Surname and first name, Home & work 'Phone no., Mobile no., Email address, Home suburb, any Special requests (e.g. Own tree/delivery area), Trailer (TR)/ Roof rack (RR)/ Station wagon (SW), Maximum No. Trees, and Day (Saturday / Sunday).
Please let me know via email or 'phone (details above) if you need further information. If you would like to order (and self-deliver) a tree, go to www.oxfam.org.au/trees or 'phone head office on 1800 034 034 between 10am and 4 pm after 1st November and, when giving me your details as a volunteer deliverer, include your Melway reference.
