Next Meeting Friday March 14th Bangladesh By Beth Pender
Bangladesh is an amazing little country with 130 million people in an area about the size of Victoria, and the population is set to almost double before the effects of very successful family planning take over in 30 to 40 years. It is also a country that is frequently overwhelmed by natural disasters.
Beth looks forward to telling you more about Bangladesh, which survives against all odds, and some of her experiences there with the Oxfam CAA Community Leadership program in January.
Unfortunately Cathie Roby can not be present that night so we hope to hear from her at a future date.

DVOCAA 40th Birthday Celebrations
The Diamond Valley Oxfam CAA celebrated its 40th Birthday on Tuesday March 4th at Montsalvat. I think all will agree it was a great night, and every body seemed to be enjoying them selves and catching up on old acquaintances.
David Scott, the first national president of Community Aid Abroad, gave a fascinating talk about his experiences in East Timor, dating before the Indonesian invasion. His courage was inspiring.
Rod Quantock added an different aspect to the evening with a wonderful story about passion fruit sponges, but also giving his own humorous and serious views on CAA. We really enjoyed the company of these two special people.
People enjoyed the music too. The piano trio gave an added touch to the party atmosphere. We them for giving their time to perform.
Elizabeth Stewart made us a delicious Birthday Cake and provided two small ones as gift to our speakers. We liked Rod's comment "What's this ? An iced mud Brick ?"

Walk Against Want 2003
Our Yarra Valley Walk Against Want raised approximately $9,000, with about 150 walkers taking part. Our Thanks go to Ray and his extremely efficient team for organizing the 30th Yarra Valley Walk.
Many thanks also to those who helped on the day, not to mention those who actually walked and cycled. It would seem that the "Office" has already decided not to hold the Walk Against Want so early next years.
Reports in the media indicate that close to $1 million was raised nationally, but we await confirmation of this from the office.
Amongst our walkers were the Macedon Ranges OCAA group, and from the Bayside group Richard Magarvie and his wife. We also had the state MP for Eltham, Steve Herbert. All said they enjoyed our location.
