Next Meeting Friday August 8th Andrew Hewitt Executive Director OCAA Augustine Ullatil Sth. Indian OCAA Field Officer
In contrast to our last meeting we have a Stellar cast, two key figures in the organization will be with us this month. We are delighted to welcome these two very busy people.
Andrew Hewitt: We are asking Andrew to talk about some of the background to OCAA's present philosophy and how he sees the organization having the greatest impact in light of current world situations and also the role he sees for groups.
If you would like him to talk on specific areas of OCAA work, you can give Beth a call before the meeting and she will pass those requests on to Andrew.
There will be plenty of opportunities for questions on the night.
Augustine Ullatil: Augustine is here, along with other field officers, to a series of workshops with OCAA. Beth has become a good friend of Augustines through study tours to India and from his previous visits to Australia, and she has persuaded him to stay an extra day to attend our meeting.
Some of you have already met Augustine at Beth's place on a previous trip he made to Australia. He really loves to meet supporters of the organization, who work so hard to support what he is doing in India.
Hopefully Augustine can tell us a bit more about work in the field and answer all the questions you care to put to him. Augustine operates from Bangalore in South India.
This will be a very special evening for us, and we hope that everybody can come. Feel free to bring friends and other interested parties.
Supper: Contributions to a light supper after the meeting would be appreciated.

September Meeting Friday September 12th Liz Mann on Mozambique The Mavume Food Security Program
We talked briefly about this program at our last meeting and agreed to follow it further.
The "Cattle, Crops and Community" project is supporting 5 impoverished rural communities in Mavume to improve their food security. Approximately 3,000 people will directly benefit from subsidized cereal and vegetable seeds and the establishment of nurseries to grow fruit and nut trees.
The project will also assist the general population through HIV AIDS training, and half of the families will directly benefit from cattle restocking. Education and Healthcare provision is minimal resulting in literacy and health statistics well below the already poor national average. One child in four dies before the age of five.
The Program Coordinator, Liz Mann, will be talking about the program which will help us to decide just how involved we want to become in fund raising for it.
