Materials to make a Piñata

In my country and around the world, the piñata is a fun way to entertain
children and adults at parties and on special occasions.

The piñata was originally a Mexican custom that has existed for many
centuries. In order to make a piñata, you need to construct the base of it
which consist of either wire or cardboard. After the body is formed, it
needs to be covered with a lot of layers of old newspaper. By using the
paper and glue, you start to give the piñata the shape of a character that
you want it to be ( Papier Mache ).

To decorate the piñata, you need lots of coloured paper. To apply the
Paper you need to cut it around its perimeter to give it a pattern. This
is then glued to the piñata.

As soon as the piñata is ready, that is dry,a hole needs to be cut in it to put lollies l coins and confetti inside. This is part of the surprise at the end.

When the piñata is ready, the stick also needs to be decorated. If possible,
decorate the stick with the same colour as the piñata so that they match. The
stick is used to hit the piñata to try to knock out everything that is inside. The
children however must be blindfolded using a piece of cloth or handkerchief.
The children are spun around 4 times to make them feel dizzy. This makes it more difficult and also more interesting for the children and the viewers.
