FOLK TALE FROM EL SALVADOR

SIHUEHUET was a beautiful Indian Princess who got married and after sometime betrayed her husband with other men. Her father was the Supreme God of their tribe. He was very upset about his daughter's behavior and for that reason he thew her out of his village and took her child away.

From this day she lived alone on a mountain or nearby the rivers. When people walk alone after midnight, she appears like a ghost, young and beautiful, especially to handsome men. When the men are amazed by her beauty, she starts to laugh and scratch their faces and bodies.

Suddenly her beauty changes and she appears like a mummy. Thus, she leaves people in shock and horror.
