Panelologist
Vol.2, Nos.7-8
An Abridged Index to
All-Star Comics.

This historic work of comic fandom was published by Dr Jerry Bails in 1969.   It does not contain a copyright notice, nor publishing details.

This six page mimeo-ed publication was a revised edition of the first fanzine index of the Golden Age adventures of the JSA in All-Star Comics #3 - #57.  The index cost 25c and it contained:

The Official Roll Call of the JSA;
The Editors, Writers, and Artists of All-Star Comics;
and, The Adventures of the Justice Society of America;
I wrote to Jerry Bails to seek some information on this publication - I was un-sure about the cover artist.  He was only to happy to reply...
The Index to All-Star Comics (Panelologist v.2 #7-8) has a cover drawn by me but containing swipes of characters from various issues of All-Star Comics. Lots of the figures are from # 8 and #24.  One or two of the figures (GL for sure) were originals when I couldn't find an appropriate model.  The same cover appeared on the earlier editions of this index.

This material was first published in THE AUTHORIATIVE INDEX TO ALL-STAR COMICS in the early 1960s.  I have a copy of the revised 1965 edition in my hands.  Notice the correct title.  The first edition was in January, 1962 according to the listing I published in THE GUIDEBOOK TO COMICS FANDOM (Sum/65).  99% of all artists were identified in the very first edition.

I forgot that I had published the A-S Index again as part of my PANELOLOGIST series.  That's what you seem to have.  It may be a shortened version.  I don't recall.

I purchased my copy off eBay in 1999 [and was THRILLED to acquire it!]

A further revision of this article was published in Issue #36 of Near Mint.

The Justice Society of America on Earth-Two.

The Panelologist Vol.2, nos.4-6. Entire contents copyrighted 1969 by Jerry Bails.  [Note, cover lists issue as 3-6, publication note says 4-6.]

Published by Dr Jerry Bails in 1969, this 12 page fanzine was published

"In honor of the 7th annual appearence of the JUSTICE SOCIETY in THE JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA, we dedicate this special multiple issue of THE PANELOLIGIST.  We offer:

(1) An index to all appearances of the JSA characters (over 31 years),
(2) A chronology of their appearances in the SECOND HEROIC AGE (since 1961),
(3) A listing of all JSA meetings since the team came out of retirement,
(4) A concordance of Earth-Two personalities (having appeared during the SECOND HEROIC AGE),
(5) An index to THE SPECTRE comics magazine,
(6) A key to the editors, writers, and artists of JSA features (and appearing during the SECOND HEORIC AGE)."
Jerry informed me that:

The Panelologist v.2 #5-6 (or whatever numbering is correct) contains a cover made with an electric memeograph stencil of a panel of original art in my collection.  The art is by Mike Sekowsky (pencils) and Bernard Sachs (inks) from the first JLA-JSA crossover.  Electric stencil machines were capable of making the best copies short of going to photo-offset.

I purchased my copy off eBay in 1999 [and was THRILLED to acquire it!]
