Membership had its privileges....

As you may have guessed from all the JSA web pages springing up  - see my links page - Justice Society fans are... well... fanatical about their heroes and their comics!!!

So much so, that on February 27th 1999 one fan in Sylvania Ohio USA, established a Yahoo club entitled the JSA Appreciation Association. This club ran for over 28 months and when it closed on Saturday 16th June 2001 it had 707 members.

Like most Yahoo clubs it was a site with message listings, photographic /pictorial galleries, a chat room, and membership profile pages.

Interest in the club, founded by "JSAJim", saw it grow rapidly, to over 140 members in six months, 350 members in 12 months and 610 members in 24 months - making it the largest Yahoo club with a comics theme at that time!  Full of enthusiastic comic readers and historians, the club founder followed the tradition of the Jr JSA and issued membership cards and certificates to his interested JSAAAers.

Each card was handmade with an individual picture of the sponsoring member and the case where the recipient "won their spurs" into the club!  They even contain a signal device (though it must be analogue - as Australia's gone digital and it doesn't work here!)

They are my cards above (original issue of the left and new issue on the right) and there are links to copies of the accompanying JSAAA certificates.  All are now collectibles in there own right, and memories of a happy time for the dedicated and all-too-passionate JSA fans.
