Comic Book Marketplace is a fantastic monthly fanzine. The masthead, "The Magazine for Advanced Comic Book Collectors!" is spot on, this is a real market leader! Edited by fan/collector Gary Carter, CBM is always informative, interesting and covers diverse range of genres. And I always like the market reports! How many All-Stars are being sold, in what condition and how much???
Issue #69 was their Justice Society Special, hightlights included...
"Golden Age of the JSA : some call them the greatest hero group of all-time!" by Jack Curtin
All-Star Comics Chronlogy! No retcons, no imports, just tings the way they were!" by Jack Curtin [An outstanding summary of each issue. I'd been planning a synopsis of each All-Star comic for this webpage. However when CBM # 69 came out I though, "Why bother? just tell every one to buy this!]
"Silver Age of the JSA! How those Golden Agers returned from the past!" by Mark Ameen Johnson
"Making Silver out of Gold! a chronology of GA DC character appearaces through the 1960s!" by Mark Wilbur
and "Join the Junior JSA! All you need is a badge and decoder." by JC Vaughn.
There was also an excellent article on "The Golden Days of Green Lantern!" by Michelle Nolan.
What can I say? This is a must for JSA fans. I was so thrilled
when this hit the stores!
...and while you're
at it! Also pick up CBM#52!
No, not for Archie. There's a wonderful article by Jack Curtin entitled, "No Gurls Allowed! Was the legendary Justice Society really just a Boys' Club?" examining the effect of Wonder Woman, The Black Canary and The Harlequin on the group.
