ISF Press Release
- On June 22nd, 2002 the Board of Directors of the International
Snowboard Federation (ISF) voted, with one abstention, to follow
the advice of its Executive Committee and declare insolvency
of the ISF immediately. The lack of a credible solution to the
financial difficulties and the missing support of past partners
forced this drastic action. Therefore all ISF operations will
cease immediately. The New Zealand Junior World Championships
will now come under the control of the organizing committee
and the nations. The National Associations and their competitions
will continue to be a vibrant asset to our sport. The information,
results, and rankings of these events and the participating
riders will continue to be posted on www.snowboardranking.com
as an independent service. The Board of Directors would like
to thank our sponsors, our friends, and our supporters for helping
us realize our dream for the past 10 years. We continue to love
our sport and know there will be growth and excitement as we
move forward. |

Flashback
-
In the men's Non-stop downhill at the1975 VIIIth Winter Deaflympic
Games held at Lake Placid, New York USA. Andrew Swan was placed
in the top three qualifying time for the two combined runs
on a hard pack and icy trail. Andrew and some of the other
competitors waxed their ski's basement to suit the conditions
of an icy trail and a sunny day before going to sleep. However,
at 4 o'clock in the morning it began snowing on the course.
The Swiss team coach woke in the morning to check the condition
of the course and waxed all the Swiss' skis to suit the soft,
fresh snow. The Swiss finished in all top 5 positions for
the Men's final downhill and Andrew Swan placed at 10th on
a fresh powder trail.

Resorts News
MT HOTHAM - Mount Hotham Skiing Company continues to provide
a world-class alpine experience by increasing snowriding terrain.
In 2002, the adrenalin pumping slopes of Golden Point will be
featured in the resort's trail map, increasing skier terrain
to over 320 hectares.Intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders
will savour the opportunity to discover the ultimate backcountry
adventure at Golden Point. Boasting an extra 75 hectares of
snow terrain, Golden Point is famous for untracked powder and
wild tree lined glades. While the Golden Point area is not patrolled
by ski patrol, the trails all lead to the bottom of either Blue
Ribbon or the Village Chair, meaning snowriders no longer have
to walk out!!
FALLS CREEK
- Shaped lanes in the resort's new Snow Tubing Park were opened
on 3rd July. Snowtubing will now be available at Falls Creek

snowmaking technology by becoming the first Australian ski resort
to trial the new generation 24/7 "Bucceri" snowmaking
system. Unlike conventional snow making the "Bucceri"
system does not rely on ambient temperatures for cooling and
is capable of making snow 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
BLUE
PERISHER - Boarders who simply want to access Australia's best
Half Pipe (as voted by boardtheworld.com) can now purchase the
