DSP Australia Inc. is a support organization
for young pensioners in our society who live on very low fixed
incomes, preventing them from being active in their community
or even purchase the essential items needed to live a decent lifestyle
and regain the self-esteem, confidence, and dignity needed to
feel like a worthwhile human being. Being young and on a fixed
income is an automatic setback in today's society; those in this
situation cannot participate in social activities, afford medical
equipment and medicines, or obtain good clothing, appropriate
accommodation and easy mobility. With a DSP Pension Concessions
Card these individuals can eliminate any discrimination regardless
of the physical or financial disabilities that they may suffer.
A DSP Australia Inc. Member who carries a DSP Membership card
with their DSP pension card has special requirements and needs
that little extra understanding and patience to keep up with the
fast pace of today's world.
DSP Australia Inc. is a registered charity
with the Australian Taxation Office as well as the Australian
Securities Commission. Donations of $2.00 and upwards are tax
deductible. A receipt is sent promptly to those who donate.

membership fee due to hardship, our Executive will waive the
membership fee for that Member and provide them with a membership
card.
DSP Australia Inc. Members are guaranteed confidentiality, regardless
of the advocacy or assistance they receive.
DSP Australia Inc. is currently working to develop a 24-hour
on-call service for Members and others who may need to gain
access to us concerning a Member's welfare.
Allied with DSP Australia Inc. is the "As You Are" Internet
list-serv group. This provides a way for members of the list-serv
to communicate their problems, ask questions, and in general
meet others like themselves without fear of ridicule. If you
are interested in joining "As You Are," please contact Judi-Ann
Leggetts by e-mail.
The DSP Australia
Inc. Mission
Begging belittles a person who has no other
alternative, especially when that means having to beg for food
vouchers and clothes, to beg people on the streets for some
money to buy food for themselves and their family. It is perhaps
most destructive to those who have children, who very often
go without essential basic items and do not understand why other
children have these things and they do not.
DSP Australia Inc. is bound by its constitution to put an end
to this inhumane standard of living, and encourage our members,
together with their children, to work toward a better quality
of life and a meaningful place in our society.
We accomplish this mainly through our non-blood extended family
environment of self-help, which seeks to help Members regain
the confidence and encouragement needed to live a decent lifestyle
and lead them out of the cycle of poverty they live in.
Every effort is made to keep families together and help them
maintain a sense of self-esteem to continue on together under
extreme difficulties, especially where there is an illness that
prevents them from returning to the work place.
Assistance of every kind is always required
by our community of members to enable them to enjoy a better
quality of life. There is also a need to reeducate people who
have been used to living a good lifestyle and then have fallen
upon hard times; they need to be educated on how to survive
and remain as healthy as possible on very little income. DSP
Australia Inc. is dedicated to bringing this assistance and
education to our members, with the aid and support of our sponsors
and supporters.
In the end, DSP Australia Inc. can be summarized by its motto,
"People working for the People." We will do what it takes to
ensure the well-being of our Members, and to promote their return
to a sense of positive well-being and full acceptance by society.
We need and welcome your help and assistance in achieving this
goal.
