Rosebud Hospital
The following plaque was unveiled at the Mornington Peninsula Hospital Rosebud (Melways 169K1) December, 2003.
"ELEANORA"

THIS WAS THE HOME OF DAVID CAIRNS (1861 - 1935)
AND HIS YOUNGER SISTER ELIZABETH (1865 - 1948).
IT WAS CONSTRUCTED FOR HIM IN 1916/17
BY WILLIAM JOHN CROAD OF SORRENTO, A
SIGNIFICANT BUILDER IN LIMESTONE.

DAVID CAIRNS BEQUEATHED "ELEANORA" AND
SURROUNDING 9 ACRES TO THE ALFRED HOSPITAL
IN 1935. THE GENEROUS BEQUEST MADE THIS LAND
AVAILABLE FOR THE ROSEBUD HOSPITAL TO BE
BUILT ON THIS SITE IN 1961.

"ELEANORA" STANDS AS A MONUMENT TO THE
GENEROSITY OF
DAVID CAIRNS.
