When your partner has diabetes sometimes you may think you feel inadequate. This is simply not the case. As part of a close relationship with family and friends, you are your partners main source of support and encouragement. Also, realise that you are not alone, that's what Sugar Support is here for.

Apart from the normal give and take in any relationship, sometimes you will have to 'bite your tongue' in certain situations. Careful understanding of diabetes, and it's related aspects, is important to keeping your sanity. Realise that both high and low blood sugar can cause obvious changes in moods etc... Low blood sugar may make some diabetics nervous, or worse, irritable. In contrast, high blood sugar may make your partner feel very tired or even depressed. These effects vary very much from person to person and is more a result of feeling poorly about blood sugar control, than any real effect of the sugar on your partners mood.
