Toby
Toby was one of five donkeys rescued in early November 2006, all of whom were in bad condition and two of the jennies were pregnant.

Toby's overgrown hooves are the worst I have ever seen. Hooves like these cause the donkey to stand and walk abnormally, which stretches the tendons around the ankles and predisposes him to joint arthritis. It can also cause the bone in the foot to be rotated, resulting in an irreparable deformity.

Unfortunately, because Toby is an unhandled jack, it will take some weeks before he settles down enough for our farrier to trim his hooves.
