Seamus' story
Seamus and Sean came from Warrnambool, a coastal town
about 260 kilometres west of Melbourne, and arrived
at Donkey Shelter in October 2002.
They had become wild and unmanageable after their owners
became unable to look after them properly. After asking
the RSPCA for help, the owners contacted Donkey Shelter
and surrendered them to us.
We think they are brothers or half-brothers, because they
look exactly alike, so much so that if they are not
together it's difficult to tell which one is which.
When they first arrived at Donkey Shelter they were
extremely difficult to handle and would kick backwards
and sideways whenever we tried to do their feet, but
after about a month of gentle retraining
they settled down.
Now they are affectionate, cheeky
little boys who are a bit pushy and naughty in an
endearing kind of way! They love to be kissed, and
whenever May goes past, they lift their noses up so
she will kiss them!
