Fred's storyFred is a seven year old physically-abused jack donkey. He arrived at Donkey Shelter on the 18th February 2007 after his case was reported to us by a social worker at a country prison, where the previous owner was incarcerated for violent behaviour to both his wife and the donkey.In one of these assaults he beat the donkey so badly that he broke his left front leg. As you can see in the photo, this has healed, but has left him with a physical deformity of the leg. Despite his terrible suffering, he is a lovely boy who enjoys pats and cuddles. Fred will be gelded at Werribee Equine Hospital in the near future and his leg will be reviewed by the Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. Fred is now a Sponsor donkey, and he will stay at Donkey Shelter for the rest of his life. |
