Welcome Dudley! |
With great joy we announce the birth on Sunday the 28th October 2007
of Dudley, a new son for Hermione, one of our recently rescued donkeys. |
He is a darling, smoochy boy who loves to be
kissed and cuddled by all the doting volunteers and
visitors! (And there are plenty of those!) |

Hermione is very protective and chases away donkeys who
get too close to her baby, but is very proud and happy when
humans make a fuss of him. They were both taken to the Werribbee Equine Hospital soon after the birth, as May was worried that the placenta had torn and that some of it may have been retained. If so, then Hermione would need medical attention within thirty-six hours or she could die. May was also worried that Dudley may have not received enough blood through the umbilical cord because of the torn placenta, in which case he would be in danger too. Fortunately all was well, and they came home two days later, although the vets at the hospital wanted Dudley to stay! |
