Family, Fun & Fitness

Participation in Little Athletics will greatly assist in bringing up children in a family environment of FUN and FITNESS and the establishment of friendships. For Little Athletics to be enjoyed by all for the benefit of "Family, Fun and Fitness", the co-operation and assistance of all parents, coaches and officials is of primary importance.

Note To Parents

If children are interested, encourage them to participate. However, if children are not willing, do not force them to be involved.

Focus upon the children's efforts and performance rather than the overall outcome. This will assist children in setting realistic goals related to their ability by reducing the emphasis on winning. Teach children that an honest effort is as important as victory, so that the result of each event is accepted without undue disappointment. Encourage children to participate according to the rules.

Never ridicule or yell at children for making a mistake or losing. Remember that children are involved in organised sport for their enjoyment, not yours. Remember that children learn best from example. Applaud good efforts by all children. If you disagree with an official, raise the matter through the appropriate channels (if possible) rather than question their integrity, honesty and judgement in public.

Remember, most officials give their time and effort for your child's involvement and enjoyment. Support all efforts to remove physical and verbal abuse from sporting activities. Recognise the value and importance of volunteer officials and coaches. They give of their time and resources to provide recreational activities for all children and deserve your support.
