The group physically assist disabled people to gain independence through motoring. It is run by and consists only of disabled people. They provide advice on control and mobility aids to assist a disabled person to drive. DMV acts as a watchdog for the interests of disabled drivers. The role of the State Library is to act as the peak body for promoting and publicizing of library and information services to people with special needs and to relevant agencies and community groups. The Library provides an advisory/consultancy service to the Victorian Library Network and Community Groups regarding users with special needs. It maintains and develops collections of materials relating to disability, and makes its collection accessible to people with disabilities.. The Library aims to make the items in its collection accessible to all who need them. This includes people who have temporary or permanent disability.

The Vision Information Line is a national telephone information service for the use of any person requiring information on vision impairment or blindness. Information is collected nationally about all blindness agencies and organisations, stored on computer and supported by a large visual display. Our operator can assist with information on eye conditions, blindness, education, employment, technology, equipment, rehabilitation, day centres, recreation, talking books, pensions and concessions. Information is given initially via telephone with follow-up material in print, large print, braille or on audio-cassette if required. Calls are confidential with names and addresses not required.
