ACTIVITIES

We meet mid-week and at weekends several times a month for 2-3 hours working on planting, weeding and other activities to suit people of all interests and ages. Click here to obtain our current program of meeting dates and other events.

Regeneration and Planting

Shepherd's Bush is an outstanding area of remnant bushland in Glen Waverley.

Friends activities include weeding and planting of indigenous plants.

Flora and Fauna


The parklands are home to many plant and animal species.

Friends activities include the provision of nesting boxes, bird walks and, in the future, environmental, plant and history walks.



Indigenous Plants Garden


This is an established garden showcasing native plants suited to suburban gardens in the local area. It is situated at 95 Shepherd Road, Glen Waverley and is open for visitors at any time.

Friends manage and maintain the garden.
Working bees are held on the first Sunday of every month
from 10am - 12 noon.

Plant Nursery


Friends manage a plant nursery which is shared with other groups including students from Holmesglen TAFE.

Collection of seed and propagating activities are regularly undertaken.

Talks, Walks and Tours


Our aim is to encourge community awareness and have fun. Activities we organise include:
  • Evening guest speakers
  • Guided tours for school groups and the general community
  • Native wildflower walks, night prowls, frog watches and water watch studies on creeks and billabongs
  • 'Breakfast with the Birds' with our bird identification expert
  • History walk in Jells Park
  • Barbeques



Waterwatch Monitoring


Friends monitor Dandenong Creek water quality at three sites in the Parklands on a monthly basis. Training can be provided to new members interested in this activity.
