THE LAST GREAT TREK

Daffodils over the Top - The Last Great Bivouac

For those of you who might be interested, I’m proposing to organise a trek by convoy over the Top End (via Darwin) to arrive at Perth in time for the reunion in October 2006. Darwin will be one essential rendezvous for sufficient time to take in some planned activities.

Flexibility is the name of the game. Hopefully we can agree to meet up along the way at rendezvous points and watering holes – travelling in convoy or individually, at your pleasure. It isn’t essential to have an outback vehicle but a bit of adventure travel may be organised. You can camp, motel, hotel, or caravan, whatever you like. Join in wherever, even fly and drive.

For the adventurous parts of the trek we’ll need some ‘hunter gatherers’ to keep us supplied with fresh barramundi and muddies, and some master chefs to cook them. No doubt there are also some master Bushmen among us with GPS’s and maps etc and a few ‘who have been before’ and can act as expert guides and open doors or show us some special places (I can help with the North West Cape and Katherine).

If this appeals to you, get in touch with the Webmaster and we’ll get organised - sort of.
Some of us will make it before ‘three score and ten’.
