We invite you to join DACS by sending the application form to the Membership Secretary. Click on this application form link to access an application form which can be printed off and mailed in.

Application forms can also be obtained by by phoning the Membership Secretary during the Danish Consulate's opening hours, phoning any of the members of the Committee or from the Swedish Church in Toorak. Subscriptions are only nminal to cover the cost of DACS newsletters which members receive at regular intervals.

How to join the DACS Committee

If you would like to join the DACS committee, the following may provide you with a better idea about what the committee work entails:

Attendance at committee meetings: We have our meetings at the Swedish Church on Sunday at 1.00PM. The meetings usually last for 1.5-2.0 hours. We are very focussed and don't dither!

Organising DACS events: We hope that our committee members will organise or help another person organise at least 2 events through the year so that we can share the knowledge about how DACS works. This would involve booking the venue and any catering, arrange required equipment and resources and booking presenters. Note: Most venues are already booked and we have checklists for organising.

Attendance at DACS events: Committee members are encouraged come to as many events as they can during the year. At a DACS event, we expect the committee member to introduce themselves to other members and ensure that everyone feels welcome. Committee members also man the door and collect admission fees as people arrive. Those 'on duty' for the event assist in the set up and pack-up of the event, including equipment.

Other:

• We have six office-bearing roles - President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary and Public Officer. Usually the last three roles are combined but can be split so long as there is an effort to coordinate and communicate.
• We have roles for the newsletter editor (1 or 2 people) and website editor (1 or 2 people).
• We expect committee members to 'have their ear to the ground' - bring ideas for events and presentations to the committee, find out information and share news around.

It seems like a lot to do - but we have been an effective committee and we share the work around.

CDACS Committee work suits people who share easily and who have good interpersonal skills, are well organised and who are willing and able to make a contribution. It is a great volunteer activity for those who are interested in a vital Danish Australian community bond. The committee nomination form is enclosed with the newsletter.
