So far the award has helped seventeen women make progress in their careers as professional women directors. Wendy Joseph, Kim Durban, Lynne Ellis and Suzie Dee all used the award to travel and work with theatre companies around the world: London, Warsaw, Edinburgh, Cornwall, Amsterdam, Paris, Hanoi. Suzanne Kersten, Maud Clark, Catherine Hill and Marita Wilcox used the award to develop and stage original productions. Teresa Blake studied with Gale Edwards one of Australias leading directors while Katerina Kokkinos-Kennedy worked as an assistant director at Playbox and Melbourne Theatre Company. Recipients have gone on to direct many plays and operas for respected companies such as the Victorian State Opera, the International Women Playwrights Festival, Playbox, St. Martins, Theatreworks and the Melbourne Theatre Company.
