We were formed in May 2001 and hence we are only a young group. We started out as a big group of fifteen like minded people, and slowly through lack of work and interest the group slowly dissipated. In January 2002 the group died to only three (3) keen members. These three (3) members decided a name change was in order to better reflect what we do, as CITY WEST - SPIritual Research & Investigation Team, sounded (to us) like we studied spiritual religious groups in the city’s west.

What we do is more than investigate haunted places, we research them and try to get answers to why, what, how, and when. For instance:

Why does the haunting occur? Or maybe even why do most people only catch orbs on Film?
What exactly is the possible haunting? Ie. Poltergeist activity, entity, smoke, smell emissions, voice etc.
How often does it occur? How is it known to occur? (Ie. Lights dim then something happens etc.)
When does it happen? Is it based around a particular object or person?

Many "Ghost Hunters" out there in our community, merely take photos, and take recordings (EVP), of hauntings and don’t delve into the existence and meanings of the evidence that obtained, others merely walk into a place say that the place is haunted and then charge a fee for their services. That is not what we are about, and we are not out to swindle money from the vulnerable. (Donations will be accepted but not expected!) We believe that we are delving into a New Science that is yet to be recognised by the Skeptical Community.

We also respect the deceased and do not believe in par taking in drive by cemetery photo shootings in the hope of capturing the eminence of the deceased at the funeral.
